Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the fell 1.89%, while the index fell 2.96%, and the index declined 1.93%.

The best performers of the session on the were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:), which rose 1.13% or 0.46 points to trade at 41.08 at the close. Meanwhile, Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:) added 0.88% or 0.52 points to end at 59.54 and Merck KGaA (DE:) was up 0.76% or 1.45 points to 191.70 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were HelloFresh SE (DE:), which fell 9.46% or 4.37 points to trade at 41.81 at the close. Zalando SE (DE:) declined 6.92% or 3.50 points to end at 47.06 and Delivery Hero AG (DE:) was down 6.74% or 3.25 points to 44.94.

The top performers on the MDAX were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:) which rose 2.12% to 2.65, Uniper SE (DE:) which was up 1.86% to settle at 24.12 and Gerresheimer AG (DE:) which gained 1.43% to close at 67.55.

The worst performers were Aurubis AG (DE:) which was down 10.01% to 101.60 in late trade, Sixt SE (DE:) which lost 8.89% to settle at 121.90 and Kion Group AG (DE:) which was down 7.48% to 55.38 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:) which rose 2.12% to 2.65, Vantage Towers AG (DE:) which was up 0.97% to settle at 33.18 and Freenet AG NA (DE:) which gained 0.73% to close at 24.80.

The worst performers were Suse SA (DE:) which was down 6.07% to 29.10 in late trade, TeamViewer AG (DE:) which lost 5.36% to settle at 12.71 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:) which was down 5.35% to 143.25 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 547 to 158 and 61 ended unchanged.

Shares in Kion Group AG (DE:) fell to 52-week lows; falling 7.48% or 4.48 to 55.38.

The , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 9.32% to 31.19.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.27% or 5.30 to $1,922.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 3.23% or 3.29 to hit $98.67 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 3.00% or 3.20 to trade at $103.44 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.03% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 99.54.
