Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the rose 0.24%.

The best performers of the session on the were NTN Corp. (TYO:), which rose 4.44% or 12.00 points to trade at 282.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (TYO:) added 3.31% or 19.00 points to end at 593.00 and Mazda Motor Corp (TYO:) was up 3.23% or 33.00 points to 1,054.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were CyberAgent Inc (TYO:), which fell 4.14% or 53.00 points to trade at 1,228.00 at the close. Eisai Co., Ltd. (TYO:) declined 3.25% or 327.00 points to end at 9,723.00 and Softbank Group Corp. (TYO:) was down 2.49% or 151.00 points to 5,917.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2115 to 1409 and 271 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 7.54% to 18.39.

Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.88% or 0.68 to $77.61 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 1.02% or 0.84 to hit $83.52 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.07% or 1.20 to trade at $1,782.50 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was up 0.40% to 137.29, while EUR/JPY rose 0.28% to 143.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 105.39.
