Investing.com — U.S. stocks extended their losses, falling deeper into a bear market on fears of a global growth slowdown. Here are the midday movers for Sept. 27:

  • Hertz Global Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:), the rental car giant that recently announced a plan to buy electric vehicles from General Motors (NYSE:), rose 1.9% on Monday after announcing a plan with BP (NYSE:) to install EV charging stations across the U.S.
  • Ford Motor Company (NYSE:) shares fell 2.3% after the automaker said it would invest $700 million in a Kentucky facility designed to make the F-series pickup truck, adding 500 manufacturing jobs.
  • Novavax Inc (NASDAQ:) shares jumped 6% after the maker of a Covid-19 vaccine said another one million doses would be available for use in the U.K.
  • Jabil Circuit Inc (NYSE:) stock rose 1.3% after the contract electronics maker reported better than expected fiscal fourth quarter results and issued a positive forecast and stock buyback.
  • Southwest Airlines Company (NYSE:) shares were flat as the carrier said it would suspend operations in Tampa and nearby Florida cities tonight at 5 p.m. ahead of Hurricane Ian’s expected landfall in the area.
