Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sydney, the gained 1.29%.

The best performers of the session on the were Brickworks Ltd (ASX:), which rose 5.75% or 1.18 points to trade at 21.69 at the close. Meanwhile, Mineral Resources Ltd (ASX:) added 5.26% or 3.58 points to end at 71.58 and Lynas Rare Earths Ltd (ASX:) was up 4.90% or 0.38 points to 8.14 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Polynovo Ltd (ASX:), which fell 4.70% or 0.07 points to trade at 1.42 at the close. Clinuvel Pharmaceuticals Ltd (ASX:) declined 4.11% or 0.82 points to end at 19.12 and Austal Ltd (ASX:) was down 2.78% or 0.07 points to 2.45.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 715 to 635 and 392 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 3.06% to 16.23.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.13% or 2.25 to $1,680.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.29% or 0.25 to hit $85.61 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.47% or 0.43 to trade at $92.43 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.18% to 0.67, while AUD/JPY rose 0.04% to 96.36.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 109.32.
