Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sydney, the gained 0.60%.

The best performers of the session on the were Resolute Mining Ltd (ASX:), which rose 7.69% or 0.02 points to trade at 0.21 at the close. Meanwhile, Evolution Mining Ltd (ASX:) added 6.97% or 0.14 points to end at 2.15 and Gold Road Resources Ltd (ASX:) was up 6.84% or 0.09 points to 1.40 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Wisetech Global Ltd (ASX:), which fell 5.78% or 3.35 points to trade at 54.61 at the close. Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd (ASX:) declined 4.59% or 1.17 points to end at 24.33 and Altium Ltd (ASX:) was down 4.49% or 1.61 points to 34.27.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 701 to 587 and 376 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 7.69% to 16.42.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.31% or 5.15 to $1,671.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.65% or 1.53 to hit $91.08 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.37% or 1.35 to trade at $97.22 a barrel.

AUD/USD was down 0.84% to 0.64, while AUD/JPY rose 0.63% to 94.57.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 111.11.
