Investing.com — Walmart Inc (NYSE:) announced Monday that customers in Framington, Arkansas, can now place orders for drone deliveries.
Customers can place the orders via DroneUp LLC, a drone technology and services provider. Walmart invested in DroneUp in June.
The service will eventually be in three locations in Northwest Arkansas.
“Opening our first hub within months of our initial concept showcases DroneUp’s ability to safely execute drone delivery operations with speed. We’re already hearing great customer feedback at our first site in Farmington, Arkansas, and look forward to opening additional locations,” said Tom Ward, senior vice president of last mile at Walmart U.S.
Retail giant Walmart is well-positioned to be a drone delivery leader due to its significant infrastructure and more than 4,700 stores that it says are located within 10 miles of over 90% of the U.S. population.
