U.S. stocks higher at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 1.86% By Investing.com

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NYSE, the added 1.86%, while the index gained 2.65%, and the index climbed 3.43%.

The best performers of the session on the were JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE:), which rose 4.20% or 4.67 points to trade at 115.86 at the close. Meanwhile, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:) added 3.92% or 8.97 points to end at 237.53 and American Express Company (NYSE:) was up 3.49% or 4.77 points to 141.58 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:), which fell 0.72% or 0.24 points to trade at 33.00 at the close. 3M Company (NYSE:) added 0.20% or 0.23 points to end at 113.86 and Dow Inc (NYSE:) was up 0.31% or 0.14 points to 45.26.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Ceridian HCM Holding Inc (NYSE:) which rose 8.08% to 56.04, DISH Network Corporation (NASDAQ:) which was up 7.33% to settle at 13.91 and Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 7.01% to close at 219.35.

The worst performers were Fox Corp Class A (NASDAQ:) which was down 9.41% to 28.58 in late trade, Fox Corp Class B (NASDAQ:) which lost 8.09% to settle at 26.80 and Kroger Company (NYSE:) which was down 2.42% to 42.12 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Acorda Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 167.52% to 0.90, Inpixon (NASDAQ:) which was up 90.59% to settle at 9.11 and Fednat Holding Co (NASDAQ:) which gained 60.35% to close at 0.83.

The worst performers were NGM Biopharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 70.48% to 3.41 in late trade, Minerva Neurosciences Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 69.55% to settle at 4.09 and Intelligent Living Application Group Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 54.07% to 2.99 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2639 to 490 and 89 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2861 rose and 935 declined, while 187 ended unchanged.

Shares in Fox Corp Class A (NASDAQ:) fell to 52-week lows; falling 9.41% or 2.97 to 28.58. Shares in Fox Corp Class B (NASDAQ:) fell to 52-week lows; falling 8.09% or 2.36 to 26.80. Shares in NGM Biopharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; down 70.48% or 8.14 to 3.41.

EUR/USD was up 1.22% to 0.98, while USD/JPY rose 0.21% to 149.05.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.06% at 112.01.
