Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the added 0.67% to hit a new 1-month high.

The best performers of the session on the were Denka Co Ltd (TYO:), which rose 6.37% or 205.00 points to trade at 3,425.00 at the close. Meanwhile, T&D Holdings, Inc. (TYO:) added 3.73% or 52.00 points to end at 1,445.00 and Rakuten Inc (TYO:) was up 3.38% or 22.00 points to 672.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were NTN Corp. (TYO:), which fell 3.80% or 10.00 points to trade at 253.00 at the close. Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (TYO:) declined 3.22% or 100.00 points to end at 3,010.00 and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:) was down 3.01% or 74.00 points to 2,384.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2201 to 1272 and 300 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.63% to 23.87.

Crude oil for December delivery was down 1.08% or 0.92 to $84.40 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 1.24% or 1.14 to hit $90.60 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.88% or 14.65 to trade at $1,672.65 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.34% to 147.40, while EUR/JPY rose 0.06% to 147.49.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.46% at 110.32.
