Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the lost 0.20%, while the index lost 0.14%.

The best performers of the session on the were HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:), which rose 0.97% or 10.60 points to trade at 1,103.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:) added 0.96% or 23.70 points to end at 2,483.70 and Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:) was up 0.92% or 28.40 points to 3,100.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:), which fell 2.56% or 32.20 points to trade at 1,227.15 at the close. Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:) declined 1.66% or 61.20 points to end at 3,632.95 and NTPC Ltd (NS:) was down 1.66% or 2.80 points to 165.50.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:) which rose 0.99% to 2,483.25, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:) which was up 0.86% to settle at 3,098.65 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:) which gained 0.77% to close at 1,101.30.

The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which was down 2.46% to 1,227.25 in late trade, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:) which lost 1.57% to settle at 8,844.95 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.53% to 6,786.90 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1165 to 710 and 60 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1966 fell and 1409 advanced, while 123 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.28% to 14.39 a new 52-week low.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.22% or 3.95 to $1,766.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.13% or 0.11 to hit $81.75 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.10% or 0.09 to trade at $89.69 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.22% to 81.69, while EUR/INR rose 0.37% to 84.76.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 106.37.
