India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.28%

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the gained 0.28% to hit a new 1-month high, while the index added 0.34%.

The best performers of the session on the were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:), which rose 4.98% or 450.60 points to trade at 9,492.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:) added 3.06% or 75.00 points to end at 2,526.15 and Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:) was up 3.05% or 135.15 points to 4,567.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Tata Steel Ltd (NS:), which fell 2.50% or 2.60 points to trade at 101.60 at the close. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:) declined 2.50% or 26.90 points to end at 1,048.95 and Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:) was down 2.33% or 40.25 points to 1,684.20.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:) which rose 4.95% to 9,494.10, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:) which was up 3.10% to settle at 2,526.00 and NTPC Ltd (BO:) which gained 2.08% to close at 174.15.

The worst performers were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.54% to 101.55 in late trade, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which lost 2.53% to settle at 1,048.00 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:) which was down 2.16% to 989.75 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1134 to 681 and 60 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1838 fell and 1436 advanced, while 122 ended unchanged.

Shares in Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:) rose to 3-years highs; rising 4.98% or 450.60 to 9,492.55. Shares in Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:) rose to 3-years highs; rising 4.95% or 448.05 to 9,494.10.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.07% to 15.92 a new 6-months low.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.84% or 13.95 to $1,651.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.86% or 0.77 to hit $88.31 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.55% or 0.52 to trade at $94.52 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.14% to 82.48, while EUR/INR fell 0.07% to 82.00.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 110.79.
