© Reuters India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.14%
Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the gained 0.14%, while the index added 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the were Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS:), which rose 2.15% or 50.15 points to trade at 2,381.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Nestle India Ltd (NS:) added 1.81% or 351.25 points to end at 19,739.10 and ITC Ltd (NS:) was up 1.78% or 6.05 points to 346.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NTPC Ltd (NS:), which fell 1.74% or 2.90 points to trade at 164.05 at the close. JSW Steel Ltd (NS:) declined 1.70% or 10.85 points to end at 625.90 and State Bank Of India (NS:) was down 1.61% or 9.05 points to 553.40.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Nestle India Ltd (BO:) which rose 2.14% to 19,800.00, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:) which was up 2.13% to settle at 2,381.35 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.88% to close at 2,496.50.
The worst performers were NTPC Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.77% to 164.00 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:) which lost 1.64% to settle at 553.20 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.56% to 1,698.90 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 971 to 846 and 62 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1695 fell and 1562 advanced, while 143 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.20% to 17.49.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.08% or 17.80 to $1,638.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.40% or 1.15 to hit $83.22 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.16% or 1.04 to trade at $91.07 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.84% to 82.98, while EUR/INR rose 0.21% to 81.27.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.50% at 112.56.
