The best performers of the session on the were UPL Ltd (NS:), which rose 6.49% or 38.40 points to trade at 629.95 at the close. Meanwhile, GAIL Ltd (NS:) added 4.76% or 7.00 points to end at 154.15 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:) was up 3.53% or 51.65 points to 1515.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:), which fell 2.28% or 124.25 points to trade at 5320.65 at the close. Shree Cements Ltd. (NS:) declined 2.19% or 608.60 points to end at 27240.00 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:) was down 2.08% or 21.65 points to 1018.25.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:) which rose 3.54% to 1515.45, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:) which was up 2.96% to settle at 118.30 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:) which gained 2.22% to close at 962.15.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was down 2.05% to 1018.40 in late trade, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:) which lost 2.01% to settle at 5334.90 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.81% to 6687.25 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 896 to 782 and 84 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1665 rose and 1356 declined, while 199 ended unchanged.
Shares in UPL Ltd (NS:) rose to 52-week highs; up 6.49% or 38.40 to 629.95. Shares in GAIL Ltd (NS:) rose to 52-week highs; rising 4.76% or 7.00 to 154.15.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.46% to 24.6750.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.49% or 8.35 to $1690.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.06% or 0.04 to hit $66.05 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.17% or 0.12 to trade at $69.24 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.04% to 73.207, while EUR/INR fell 0.26% to 86.9700.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 92.188.
