Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the lost 0.26%, while the index lost 0.55%, and the index lost 0.51%.

The best performers of the session on the were Merck KGaA (ETR:), which rose 1.82% or 3.40 points to trade at 190.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Beiersdorf AG O.N. (ETR:) added 1.78% or 1.90 points to end at 108.50 and E.ON SE (ETR:) was up 1.48% or 0.14 points to 9.30 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:), which fell 2.36% or 0.77 points to trade at 31.80 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:) declined 1.58% or 0.16 points to end at 10.09 and Siemens AG Class N (ETR:) was down 1.36% or 1.84 points to 133.02.

The top performers on the MDAX were LEG Immobilien AG (ETR:) which rose 2.16% to 67.20, Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:) which was up 2.04% to settle at 6.25 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:) which gained 1.68% to close at 126.90.

The worst performers were HelloFresh SE (ETR:) which was down 5.16% to 23.17 in late trade, Rational AG (ETR:) which lost 2.82% to settle at 603.00 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:) which was down 2.60% to 5.84 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Hensoldt Ag (ETR:) which rose 2.35% to 21.80, SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:) which was up 1.96% to settle at 67.55 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:) which gained 1.68% to close at 126.90.

The worst performers were Suse SA (ETR:) which was down 2.85% to 17.40 in late trade, Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:) which lost 2.75% to settle at 65.35 and Bechtle AG (ETR:) which was down 2.59% to 36.13 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 414 to 260 and 86 ended unchanged.

Shares in Beiersdorf AG O.N. (ETR:) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 1.78% or 1.90 to 108.50.

The , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.11% to 20.49.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.33% or 6.05 to $1,819.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.80% or 2.11 to hit $77.50 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.69% or 2.17 to trade at $82.85 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.31% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 103.29.
