Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the fell 2.39% to hit a new 52-week low, while the index declined 2.46%.

The best performers of the session on the were Orange SA (EPA:), which rose 0.31% or 0.03 points to trade at 10.91 at the close. Meanwhile, Carrefour SA (EPA:) fell 0.37% or 0.07 points to end at 18.64 and Sanofi SA (EPA:) was down 0.45% or 0.42 points to 93.53 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Engie SA (EPA:), which fell 7.29% or 0.89 points to trade at 11.32 at the close. Renault SA (EPA:) declined 6.75% or 1.72 points to end at 23.68 and Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:) was down 6.53% or 3.18 points to 45.59.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Edenred SA (EPA:) which rose 3.42% to 45.72, Euronext (EPA:) which was up 1.54% to settle at 76.62 and Gaztransport et Technigaz SA (EPA:) which gained 0.68% to close at 118.90.

The worst performers were Wendel (EPA:) which was down 8.98% to 79.55 in late trade, Atos SE (EPA:) which lost 7.36% to settle at 12.65 and Solvay SA (EBR:) which was down 7.34% to 82.08 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 451 to 107 and 76 ended unchanged.

Shares in Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:) fell to 52-week lows; falling 6.53% or 3.18 to 45.59. Shares in Atos SE (EPA:) fell to 5-year lows; losing 7.36% or 1.01 to 12.65. Shares in Solvay SA (EBR:) fell to 52-week lows; falling 7.34% or 6.50 to 82.08.

The , which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.84% or 33.55 to $1,853.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.11% or 1.28 to hit $116.59 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.57% or 0.68 to trade at $119.19 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 1.11% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.50% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.41% at 103.46.
