U.S. stocks mixed at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.01% By Investing.com

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were mixed after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher while losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NYSE, the added 0.01%, while the index fell 0.16%, and the index lost 0.59%.

The best performers of the session on the were Dow Inc (NYSE:), which rose 2.32% or 1.15 points to trade at 50.65 at the close. Meanwhile, American Express Company (NYSE:) added 2.32% or 3.50 points to end at 154.37 and Boeing Co (NYSE:) was up 2.03% or 3.49 points to 175.32 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Apple Inc (NASDAQ:), which fell 2.11% or 3.05 points to trade at 141.17 at the close. Salesforce Inc (NYSE:) declined 1.29% or 1.99 points to end at 151.70 and Visa Inc Class A (NYSE:) was down 1.14% or 2.40 points to 208.86.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Under Armour Inc A (NYSE:) which rose 4.79% to 9.84, Celanese Corporation (NYSE:) which was up 4.75% to settle at 105.56 and Ralph Lauren Corp Class A (NYSE:) which gained 4.36% to close at 112.66.

The worst performers were Illumina Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 3.84% to 208.57 in late trade, PayPal Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 2.87% to settle at 77.64 and Enphase Energy Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 2.83% to 303.39 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Otonomy Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 113.82% to 0.23, Apollo Endosurgery Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 67.83% to settle at 10.07 and OncoSec Medical Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 50.98% to close at 3.85.

The worst performers were Digital Brands Group Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 34.17% to 4.74 in late trade, Eqonex Ltd (NASDAQ:) which lost 33.88% to settle at 0.09 and Secoo Holding Ltd (NASDAQ:) which was down 31.91% to 1.60 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1854 to 1239 and 107 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1909 fell and 1834 advanced, while 179 ended unchanged.

Shares in Apollo Endosurgery Inc (NASDAQ:) rose to 52-week highs; up 67.83% or 4.07 to 10.07. Shares in Eqonex Ltd (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; falling 33.88% or 0.05 to 0.09. Shares in Secoo Holding Ltd (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; down 31.91% or 0.75 to 1.60.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 1.44% to 21.89.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.46% or 8.05 to $1,748.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.88% or 1.45 to hit $78.69 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.93% or 0.78 to trade at $84.67 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.07% to 1.03, while USD/JPY fell 0.18% to 138.70.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 106.75.
