U.S. stocks mixed at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average down 0.56% By Investing.com

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were mixed after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher while losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NYSE, the lost 0.56%, while the index declined 0.09%, and the index climbed 0.13%.

The best performers of the session on the were Nike Inc (NYSE:), which rose 1.34% or 1.47 points to trade at 111.16 at the close. Meanwhile, Home Depot Inc (NYSE:) added 0.96% or 3.11 points to end at 327.10 and Walt Disney Company (NYSE:) was up 0.74% or 0.72 points to 98.59 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Salesforce Inc (NYSE:), which fell 8.09% or 12.96 points to trade at 147.29 at the close. UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE:) declined 2.01% or 11.01 points to end at 536.75 and Boeing Co (NYSE:) was down 1.73% or 3.10 points to 175.78.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were PVH Corp (NYSE:) which rose 9.51% to 73.57, Etsy Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 5.53% to settle at 139.39 and Synopsys Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 5.39% to close at 357.84.

The worst performers were Salesforce Inc (NYSE:) which was down 8.09% to 147.29 in late trade, Dollar General Corporation (NYSE:) which lost 7.50% to settle at 236.51 and Baxter International Inc (NYSE:) which was down 6.86% to 52.38 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Neonode Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 44.63% to 5.93, Vivakor Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 37.60% to settle at 1.80 and ConforMIS Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 35.00% to close at 3.78.

The worst performers were Yunhong CTI Ltd (NASDAQ:) which was down 54.20% to 0.38 in late trade, G-III Apparel Group Ltd (NASDAQ:) which lost 44.66% to settle at 11.97 and Aziyo Biologics Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 40.58% to 4.10 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1693 to 1419 and 118 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1972 rose and 1760 declined, while 221 ended unchanged.

Shares in Yunhong CTI Ltd (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; down 54.20% or 0.45 to 0.38. Shares in G-III Apparel Group Ltd (NASDAQ:) fell to 52-week lows; down 44.66% or 9.66 to 11.97. Shares in Aziyo Biologics Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; down 40.58% or 2.80 to 4.10.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 3.50% to 19.86 a new 3-months low.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 3.24% or 56.95 to $1,816.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.03% or 0.83 to hit $81.38 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.03% or 0.03 to trade at $87.00 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 1.13% to 1.05, while USD/JPY fell 1.95% to 135.34.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.14% at 104.69.
