U.S. stocks lower at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average down 0.77% By Investing.com

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NYSE, the lost 0.77%, while the index lost 1.30%, and the index lost 1.96%.

The best performers of the session on the were Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE:), which rose 1.08% or 3.82 points to trade at 357.52 at the close. Meanwhile, Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:) added 1.03% or 0.42 points to end at 41.06 and International Business Machines (NYSE:) was up 0.71% or 0.96 points to 135.35 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:), which fell 3.70% or 6.23 points to trade at 162.00 at the close. Chevron Corp (NYSE:) declined 2.93% or 5.25 points to end at 174.20 and 3M Company (NYSE:) was down 2.32% or 2.67 points to 112.58.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Cincinnati Financial Corporation (NASDAQ:) which rose 5.77% to 111.52, AutoZone Inc (NYSE:) which was up 2.60% to settle at 2,430.93 and O’Reilly Automotive Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 2.39% to close at 789.63.

The worst performers were Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 6.32% to 166.66 in late trade, NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:) which lost 5.91% to settle at 191.62 and Moderna Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 4.48% to 180.87 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Heart Test Laboratories Inc Unit (NASDAQ:) which rose 168.45% to 2.35, G Medical Innovations Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:) which was up 80.33% to settle at 5.41 and Blackboxstocks Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 67.44% to close at 0.72.

The worst performers were CN Energy Group Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 72.86% to 0.59 in late trade, BuzzFeed Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 29.20% to settle at 2.74 and Bridger Aerospace Group Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 25.16% to 9.31 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2136 to 899 and 123 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2560 fell and 1193 advanced, while 135 ended unchanged.

Shares in CN Energy Group Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; down 72.86% or 1.58 to 0.59.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.37% or 7.10 to $1,922.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.45% or 1.95 to hit $77.73 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 2.36% or 2.04 to trade at $84.36 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.16% to 1.09, while USD/JPY rose 0.45% to 130.43.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.32% at 102.05.
