U.S. stocks higher at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.76% By Investing.com

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NYSE, the gained 0.76%, while the index gained 1.19%, and the index gained 2.01%.

The best performers of the session on the were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:), which rose 3.59% or 1.05 points to trade at 30.27 at the close. Meanwhile, Salesforce Inc (NYSE:) added 3.09% or 4.67 points to end at 155.92 and Apple Inc (NASDAQ:) was up 2.35% or 3.24 points to 141.11 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:), which fell 1.35% or 1.93 points to trade at 141.04 at the close. Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:) declined 0.95% or 0.38 points to end at 39.62 and Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:) was down 0.86% or 2.27 points to 260.97.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 9.22% to 76.53, Western Digital Corporation (NASDAQ:) which was up 8.66% to settle at 41.79 and Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 7.74% to close at 143.75.

The worst performers were Xylem Inc (NYSE:) which was down 8.02% to 101.34 in late trade, SBA Communications Corp (NASDAQ:) which lost 3.55% to settle at 286.27 and Schlumberger NV (NYSE:) which was down 2.63% to 55.84 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Gbs (NASDAQ:) which rose 281.48% to 1.03, Helbiz Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 109.13% to settle at 0.43 and VERB TECHNOLOGY COMPANY INC (NASDAQ:) which gained 69.65% to close at 0.39.

The worst performers were Catalyst Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 29.04% to 14.76 in late trade, Atlis Motor Vehicles Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 25.11% to settle at 3.40 and Ontrak Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 21.23% to 0.83 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2199 to 841 and 117 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2379 rose and 1345 declined, while 155 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 0.20% to 19.81.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.23% or 4.35 to $1,932.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $81.64 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.56% or 0.49 to trade at $88.12 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.15% to 1.09, while USD/JPY rose 0.84% to 130.65.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 101.79.
