Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the fell 0.12%.
The best performers of the session on the were Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (TYO:), which rose 4.33% or 130.00 points to trade at 3,130.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Taiheiyo Cement Corp. (TYO:) added 3.26% or 69.00 points to end at 2,185.00 and Sumitomo Osaka Cement Co., Ltd. (TYO:) was up 3.09% or 100.00 points to 3,340.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:), which fell 4.11% or 118.00 points to trade at 2,754.00 at the close. Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (TYO:) declined 3.24% or 110.00 points to end at 3,285.00 and Nippon Yusen K.K (TYO:) was down 2.38% or 77.00 points to 3,165.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1866 to 1640 and 313 ended unchanged.
Shares in Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (TYO:) rose to 5-year highs; up 4.33% or 130.00 to 3,130.00.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.02% to 17.51.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.36% or 0.29 to $80.44 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.19% or 0.16 to hit $86.28 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.02% or 0.45 to trade at $1,942.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.01% to 129.57, while EUR/JPY rose 0.06% to 141.52.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 101.41.
