Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, the declined 0.11%.

The best performers of the session on the were Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (TYO:), which rose 4.59% or 49.00 points to trade at 1,116.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Eisai Co., Ltd. (TYO:) added 4.06% or 349.00 points to end at 8,948.00 and Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. (TYO:) was up 3.97% or 96.00 points to 2,515.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Rakuten Inc (TYO:), which fell 5.55% or 39.00 points to trade at 664.00 at the close. Softbank Group Corp. (TYO:) declined 3.86% or 244.00 points to end at 6,075.00 and Recruit Holdings Co Ltd (TYO:) was down 3.19% or 146.00 points to 4,437.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1856 to 1609 and 323 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.44% to 18.50 a new 1-month low.

Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.13% or 0.11 to $81.75 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.16% or 0.14 to hit $89.64 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.16% or 2.85 to trade at $1,765.85 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.19% to 139.92, while EUR/JPY fell 0.08% to 145.11.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 106.49.
