Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the rose 1.84%.

The best performers of the session on the were Showa Denko K.K. (TYO:), which rose 6.55% or 152.00 points to trade at 2,471.00 at the close. Meanwhile, CyberAgent Inc (TYO:) added 6.29% or 76.00 points to end at 1,285.00 and Rakuten Inc (TYO:) was up 5.48% or 32.00 points to 616.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Nichirei Corp. (TYO:), which fell 1.59% or 36.00 points to trade at 2,224.00 at the close. KDDI Corp. (TYO:) declined 0.72% or 32.00 points to end at 4,416.00 and Osaka Gas Co., Ltd. (TYO:) was down 0.62% or 15.00 points to 2,414.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 3206 to 376 and 174 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.06% to 26.20.

Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.76% or 1.90 to $109.89 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.84% or 0.96 to hit $115.09 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.27% or 4.90 to trade at $1,835.70 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was up 0.07% to 135.18, while EUR/JPY rose 0.43% to 142.57.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 103.94.
