Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the added 0.70%.

The best performers of the session on the were Rakuten Inc (TYO:), which rose 4.58% or 30.00 points to trade at 685.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Credit Saison Co., Ltd. (TYO:) added 3.34% or 58.00 points to end at 1,796.00 and Eisai Co., Ltd. (TYO:) was up 2.92% or 221.00 points to 7,790.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Aeon Co., Ltd. (TYO:), which fell 2.60% or 71.50 points to trade at 2,681.50 at the close. Unitika, Ltd. (TYO:) declined 2.10% or 6.00 points to end at 280.00 and Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (TYO:) was down 1.69% or 9.00 points to 522.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2398 to 1053 and 303 ended unchanged.

Shares in Credit Saison Co., Ltd. (TYO:) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.34% or 58.00 to 1,796.00.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.32% to 23.46.

Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.08% or 0.07 to $87.83 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.16% or 0.15 to hit $93.52 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.65% or 11.25 to trade at $1,732.05 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.02% to 144.60, while EUR/JPY rose 0.31% to 143.37.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 110.88.
