India stocks lower at close of trade; Nifty 50 down 1.49% By Investing.com

Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the fell 1.49%, while the index declined 1.46%.

The best performers of the session on the were AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:), which rose 1.05% or 8.15 points to trade at 785.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:) added 1.01% or 32.75 points to end at 3,279.00 and Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:) was up 0.67% or 22.05 points to 3,300.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. (NS:), which fell 5.05% or 186.35 points to trade at 3,500.25 at the close. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:) declined 3.91% or 47.30 points to end at 1,163.00 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:) was down 3.84% or 25.60 points to 640.40.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:) which rose 1.15% to 785.70, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:) which was up 0.68% to settle at 3,300.35 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:) which lost 0.27% to close at 943.50.

The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was down 3.70% to 1,165.45 in late trade, Nestle India Ltd (BO:) which lost 3.13% to settle at 18,499.00 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.86% to 100.30 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1423 to 415 and 50 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2231 fell and 1049 advanced, while 126 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 4.42% to 20.49.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.31% or 5.25 to $1,669.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.40% or 2.19 to hit $88.94 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.15% or 2.07 to trade at $94.12 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.23% to 82.18, while EUR/INR fell 0.17% to 79.77.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 113.11.
