Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the fell 0.79%, while the index fell 0.75%.

The best performers of the session on the were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:), which rose 1.18% or 4.90 points to trade at 421.60 at the close. Meanwhile, HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:) added 0.48% or 7.85 points to end at 1,639.65 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:) was up 0.40% or 10.75 points to 2,674.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:), which fell 3.58% or 159.85 points to trade at 4,309.10 at the close. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:) declined 2.75% or 35.35 points to end at 1,251.60 and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:) was down 2.66% or 23.50 points to 860.45.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:) which rose 0.49% to 1,638.70, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:) which was up 0.30% to settle at 2,670.40 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:) which gained 0.19% to close at 19,767.50.

The worst performers were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:) which was down 3.62% to 4,309.30 in late trade, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which lost 2.44% to settle at 1,255.40 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:) which was down 2.30% to 3,057.45 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1275 to 624 and 54 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2016 fell and 1392 advanced, while 125 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.46% to 14.07.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.16% or 2.85 to $1,790.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.67% or 2.03 to hit $74.08 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 2.65% or 2.15 to trade at $79.06 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.02% to 82.83, while EUR/INR unchanged 0.00% to 88.03.

The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 104.20.
