Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 3.31% By Investing.com

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the declined 3.31% to hit a new 3-months low, while the index fell 3.77%, and the index lost 2.97%.

The best performers of the session on the were Deutsche Boerse AG (ETR:), which fell 0.03% or 0.05 points to trade at 154.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Merck KGaA (ETR:) fell 0.46% or 0.75 points to end at 163.25 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:) was down 1.07% or 0.54 points to 49.90 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Zalando SE (ETR:), which fell 12.44% or 3.54 points to trade at 24.91 at the close. Delivery Hero AG (ETR:) declined 9.76% or 3.39 points to end at 31.34 and Covestro AG (ETR:) was down 8.69% or 3.44 points to 36.15.

The top performers on the MDAX were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:) which fell 0.21% to 2.81, Fraport AG (ETR:) which was down 0.41% to settle at 48.45 and Software AG (ETR:) which lost 0.46% to close at 30.38.

The worst performers were Uniper SE (ETR:) which was down 9.73% to 18.92 in late trade, Lanxess AG (ETR:) which lost 9.62% to settle at 37.78 and Hypoport AG (ETR:) which was down 8.31% to 192.00 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:) which rose 0.19% to 9.42, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:) which was down 0.21% to settle at 2.81 and Software AG (ETR:) which lost 0.46% to close at 30.38.

The worst performers were Aixtron SE (ETR:) which was down 6.75% to 22.66 in late trade, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:) which lost 6.26% to settle at 23.43 and Jenoptik AG (ETR:) which was down 5.91% to 21.32 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 610 to 84 and 64 ended unchanged.

Shares in Zalando SE (ETR:) fell to 3-years lows; losing 12.44% or 3.54 to 24.91. Shares in Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:) fell to 5-year lows; losing 1.07% or 0.54 to 49.90. Shares in Covestro AG (ETR:) fell to 52-week lows; losing 8.69% or 3.44 to 36.15. Shares in Hypoport AG (ETR:) fell to 3-years lows; falling 8.31% or 17.40 to 192.00. Shares in Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:) fell to 52-week lows; falling 6.26% or 1.57 to 23.43. Shares in Jenoptik AG (ETR:) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.91% or 1.34 to 21.32.

The , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 9.73% to 31.23 a new 1-month high.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.74% or 31.65 to $1,851.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.53% or 1.77 to hit $117.08 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.78% or 0.93 to trade at $119.44 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 1.10% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.43% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.37% at 103.50.
