Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the fell 3.28% to hit a new 1-month low, while the index declined 2.27%, and the index lost 3.29%.

The best performers of the session on the were Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (ETR:), which fell 1.09% or 0.72 points to trade at 65.38 at the close. Meanwhile, Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:) fell 1.25% or 1.05 points to end at 82.80 and Qiagen NV (ETR:) was down 1.27% or 0.60 points to 46.51 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Zalando SE (ETR:), which fell 7.71% or 2.66 points to trade at 31.82 at the close. Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (ETR:) declined 7.25% or 2.82 points to end at 36.08 and Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:) was down 5.61% or 2.88 points to 48.50.

The top performers on the MDAX were Rheinmetall AG (ETR:) which rose 0.94% to 199.50, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:) which was up 0.90% to settle at 2.25 and K&S AG (ETR:) which gained 0.21% to close at 18.98.

The worst performers were Varta AG (ETR:) which was down 9.42% to 25.09 in late trade, HelloFresh SE (ETR:) which lost 7.98% to settle at 21.32 and Sixt SE (ETR:) which was down 5.43% to 87.00 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Hensoldt Ag (ETR:) which rose 0.92% to 22.00, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:) which was up 0.90% to settle at 2.25 and SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:) which gained 0.81% to close at 68.10.

The worst performers were Varta AG (ETR:) which was down 9.42% to 25.09 in late trade, Suse SA (ETR:) which lost 5.98% to settle at 16.36 and Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:) which was down 5.61% to 48.50 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 576 to 101 and 81 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 1.66% or 30.15 to $1,788.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.35% or 0.27 to hit $77.01 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.79% or 0.65 to trade at $82.05 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.78% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP rose 1.30% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.99% at 104.43.
