Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the fell 1.72%, while the index fell 2.50%, and the index declined 2.11%.

The best performers of the session on the were Beiersdorf AG O.N. (ETR:), which rose 0.59% or 0.65 points to trade at 111.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:) added 0.51% or 0.95 points to end at 187.80 and E.ON SE (ETR:) was up 0.45% or 0.04 points to 9.87 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Continental AG O.N. (ETR:), which fell 5.44% or 3.60 points to trade at 62.60 at the close. Zalando SE (ETR:) declined 4.34% or 1.86 points to end at 40.95 and Adidas AG (ETR:) was down 3.57% or 5.34 points to 144.14.

The top performers on the MDAX were Rheinmetall AG (ETR:) which rose 1.04% to 223.20, Deutsche Lufthansa AG (ETR:) which was up 0.99% to settle at 9.35 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:) which gained 0.26% to close at 19.00.

The worst performers were HelloFresh SE (ETR:) which was down 8.17% to 22.93 in late trade, Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:) which lost 6.56% to settle at 2.68 and Encavis AG (ETR:) which was down 6.45% to 16.76 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Hensoldt Ag (ETR:) which rose 4.03% to 25.80, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:) which was up 0.26% to settle at 19.00 and Vantage Towers AG (ETR:) which gained 0.12% to close at 32.24.

The worst performers were Varta AG (ETR:) which was down 6.37% to 25.42 in late trade, Siltronic AG (ETR:) which lost 5.75% to settle at 75.40 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:) which was down 5.37% to 49.72 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 534 to 143 and 82 ended unchanged.

Shares in Beiersdorf AG O.N. (ETR:) rose to 3-years highs; rising 0.59% or 0.65 to 111.15. Shares in Deutsche Lufthansa AG (ETR:) rose to 52-week highs; up 0.99% or 0.09 to 9.35.

The , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 9.22% to 20.01.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.90% or 17.15 to $1,924.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.09% or 0.87 to hit $80.67 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.26% or 1.07 to trade at $86.05 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.28% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.07% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 101.92.
