Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the declined 0.33%, while the index lost 0.55%, and the index lost 0.99%.

The best performers of the session on the were Porsche Automobil Holding SE (ETR:), which rose 4.05% or 3.08 points to trade at 79.22 at the close. Meanwhile, Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:) added 2.11% or 1.70 points to end at 82.33 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (ETR:) was up 2.02% or 3.12 points to 157.80 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Zalando SE (ETR:), which fell 6.58% or 2.49 points to trade at 35.36 at the close. Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:) declined 5.86% or 22.00 points to end at 353.60 and Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (ETR:) was down 3.18% or 1.23 points to 37.28.

The top performers on the MDAX were Lanxess AG (ETR:) which rose 3.48% to 44.88, Varta AG (ETR:) which was up 2.64% to settle at 84.86 and Wacker Chemie O.N. (ETR:) which gained 2.31% to close at 170.40.

The worst performers were LEG Immobilien AG (ETR:) which was down 4.09% to 91.94 in late trade, Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:) which lost 3.98% to settle at 16.18 and Uniper SE (ETR:) which was down 2.83% to 23.36 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:) which rose 3.37% to 51.60, Varta AG (ETR:) which was up 2.64% to settle at 84.86 and Siltronic AG (ETR:) which gained 1.44% to close at 91.85.

The worst performers were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:) which was down 5.86% to 353.60 in late trade, Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (ETR:) which lost 3.56% to settle at 41.74 and Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:) which was down 2.96% to 20.00 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 407 to 287 and 73 ended unchanged.

Shares in LEG Immobilien AG (ETR:) fell to 52-week lows; losing 4.09% or 3.92 to 91.94.

The , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.47% to 23.56.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.20% or 3.70 to $1,852.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.04% or 2.34 to hit $117.01 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.98% or 2.29 to trade at $117.89 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.83% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.15% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.83% at 102.61.
