Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the fell 0.77%, while the index lost 0.79%.

The best performers of the session on the were Renault SA (EPA:), which rose 2.49% or 0.63 points to trade at 26.18 at the close. Meanwhile, Stellantis NV (EPA:) added 1.58% or 0.22 points to end at 14.15 and Carrefour SA (EPA:) was up 1.39% or 0.26 points to 19.30 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were TotalEnergies SE (EPA:), which fell 2.64% or 1.47 points to trade at 54.12 at the close. Teleperformance SE (EPA:) declined 2.27% or 7.00 points to end at 301.70 and L’Oreal SA (EPA:) was down 2.01% or 6.60 points to 321.95.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Maisons du Monde SAS (EPA:) which rose 3.42% to 12.70, CGG SA (EPA:) which was up 2.91% to settle at 1.06 and Technip Energies BV (EPA:) which gained 2.86% to close at 12.40.

The worst performers were Fnac Darty SA (EPA:) which was down 4.65% to 45.10 in late trade, Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (EPA:) which lost 3.39% to settle at 310.20 and Biomerieux SA (EPA:) which was down 3.37% to 94.60 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 314 to 244 and 84 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.12% or 2.20 to $1,850.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.84% or 2.11 to hit $116.78 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.83% or 2.12 to trade at $117.72 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.88% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.18% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.88% at 102.66.
