Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the declined 1.01%, while the index fell 1.01%.

The best performers of the session on the were Alstom SA (EPA:), which rose 4.85% or 1.06 points to trade at 22.91 at the close. Meanwhile, STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:) added 3.97% or 1.37 points to end at 35.74 and Societe Generale SA (EPA:) was up 1.46% or 0.33 points to 22.95 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:), which fell 6.04% or 1.61 points to trade at 25.04 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:) declined 3.14% or 0.85 points to end at 26.05 and Euroapi SAS (EPA:) was down 3.14% or 0.43 points to 13.28.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Alstom SA (EPA:) which rose 4.85% to 22.91, STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:) which was up 3.97% to settle at 35.74 and ALD SA (EPA:) which gained 3.07% to close at 13.44.

The worst performers were Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:) which was down 6.04% to 25.04 in late trade, Neoen SA (EPA:) which lost 6.04% to settle at 35.33 and Biomerieux SA (EPA:) which was down 5.21% to 84.00 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 369 to 177 and 85 ended unchanged.

Shares in Euroapi SAS (EPA:) fell to all time lows; losing 3.14% or 0.43 to 13.28.

The , which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.56% or 28.96 to $1,824.74 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.39% or 0.41 to hit $106.12 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $107.51 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 1.44% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP fell 0.96% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.01% at 104.92.
