Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the fell 0.80%, while the index declined 0.81%.

The best performers of the session on the were Renault SA (EPA:), which rose 3.79% or 1.00 points to trade at 27.40 at the close. Meanwhile, TotalEnergies SE (EPA:) added 1.45% or 0.81 points to end at 56.52 and STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:) was up 0.67% or 0.25 points to 37.02 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:), which fell 3.32% or 1.02 points to trade at 29.86 at the close. Danone SA (EPA:) declined 2.72% or 1.51 points to end at 53.98 and Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:) was down 2.50% or 4.55 points to 177.25.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Renault SA (EPA:) which rose 3.79% to 27.40, Valneva (EPA:) which was up 2.59% to settle at 11.69 and Soitec SA (EPA:) which gained 2.33% to close at 175.60.

The worst performers were Korian Medica SA (EPA:) which was down 9.51% to 16.94 in late trade, Atos SE (EPA:) which lost 5.83% to settle at 25.03 and Air France KLM SA (EPA:) which was down 4.35% to 1.65 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 323 to 198 and 105 ended unchanged.

Shares in TotalEnergies SE (EPA:) rose to 5-year highs; up 1.45% or 0.81 to 56.52. Shares in Korian Medica SA (EPA:) fell to 5-year lows; losing 9.51% or 1.78 to 16.94. Shares in Air France KLM SA (EPA:) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.35% or 0.08 to 1.65.

The , which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.32% or 6.00 to $1,858.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.69% or 3.21 to hit $122.62 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.75% or 3.32 to trade at $123.89 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.27% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP rose 0.62% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 102.42.
