Effect of computer hacking on investors and customers

The recent computer hacks on Optus and Medibank are just precursors to further hacking unless serious action is taken.

The attacks threaten the credibility of those company’s security measures as well as exposing customers to fraud and shareholders to ransom claims.

It’s incredible to me that the CEO’s have not resigned or be sacked for allowing their companies to be so vulnerable. Heads have to roll to restore some credibility and large fines should be levied to ensure that companies take security seriously.

What else do members think can be done ? A national firewall perhaps ? It’s getting to the p[oint that we can’t trust anyone who holds our data, not even governments.
