Investing.com – Australia stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Sydney, the lost 1.53%.

The best performers of the session on the were Perenti Global Ltd (ASX:), which rose 10.07% or 0.07 points to trade at 0.76 at the close. Meanwhile, Inghams Group Ltd (ASX:) added 3.20% or 0.09 points to end at 2.90 and Ampol Ltd (ASX:) was up 2.42% or 0.85 points to 36.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Zip Co Ltd (ASX:), which fell 14.38% or 0.11 points to trade at 0.66 at the close. Clinuvel Pharmaceuticals Ltd (ASX:) declined 6.71% or 1.07 points to end at 14.87 and Kogan.com Ltd (ASX:) was down 6.65% or 0.24 points to 3.37.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 1105 to 347 and 377 ended unchanged.

Shares in Zip Co Ltd (ASX:) fell to 3-years lows; falling 14.38% or 0.11 to 0.66. Shares in Ampol Ltd (ASX:) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 2.42% or 0.85 to 36.00. Shares in Kogan.com Ltd (ASX:) fell to 3-years lows; down 6.65% or 0.24 to 3.37.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 7.61% to 16.08.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.24% or 4.50 to $1,848.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.35% or 0.41 to hit $118.91 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.24% or 0.29 to trade at $119.80 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.07% to 0.72, while AUD/JPY rose 0.64% to 95.43.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 102.54.
