U.S. stocks lower at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average down 1.81% By Investing.com

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NYSE, the fell 1.81%, while the index lost 1.56%, and the index fell 1.24%.

The best performers of the session on the were Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE:), which fell 0.26% or 0.91 points to trade at 349.01 at the close. Meanwhile, Apple Inc (NASDAQ:) fell 0.55% or 0.75 points to end at 135.19 and The Travelers Companies Inc (NYSE:) was down 0.75% or 1.39 points to 183.61 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Honeywell International Inc (NASDAQ:), which fell 3.77% or 8.00 points to trade at 204.24 at the close. International Business Machines (NYSE:) declined 3.33% or 4.83 points to end at 140.36 and 3M Company (NYSE:) was down 3.06% or 3.88 points to 122.72.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were JB Hunt Transport Services Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 4.95% to 185.02, Moderna Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 3.32% to settle at 197.02 and Seagate Technology PLC (NASDAQ:) which gained 3.04% to close at 58.71.

The worst performers were Kraft Heinz Co (NASDAQ:) which was down 6.31% to 39.66 in late trade, PNC Financial Services Group Inc (NYSE:) which lost 6.02% to settle at 152.10 and CarMax Inc (NYSE:) which was down 5.97% to 63.41 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Ontrak Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 94.78% to 1.12, Nuzee Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 52.90% to settle at 15.55 and Magic Empire Global Ltd (NASDAQ:) which gained 44.29% to close at 3.03.

The worst performers were Bit Brother Ltd (NASDAQ:) which was down 69.43% to 2.03 in late trade, Arcimoto Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 59.48% to settle at 2.48 and Bruush Oral Care Inc Unit (NASDAQ:) which was down 26.53% to 0.43 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2095 to 991 and 83 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2637 fell and 1124 advanced, while 119 ended unchanged.

Shares in Arcimoto Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; down 59.48% or 3.64 to 2.48. Shares in Bruush Oral Care Inc Unit (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; down 26.53% or 0.16 to 0.43.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.17% or 3.25 to $1,906.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.11% or 0.89 to hit $79.56 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.42% or 1.22 to trade at $84.70 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.05% to 1.08, while USD/JPY rose 0.52% to 128.79.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 102.15.
