Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, the fell 0.16%.

The best performers of the session on the were Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (TYO:), which rose 6.04% or 320.00 points to trade at 5,620.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (TYO:) added 3.32% or 13.00 points to end at 404.00 and Ricoh Co., Ltd. (TYO:) was up 2.77% or 31.00 points to 1,149.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Fujitsu Ltd. (TYO:), which fell 4.44% or 870.00 points to trade at 18,705.00 at the close. Astellas Pharma Inc. (TYO:) declined 4.09% or 86.00 points to end at 2,017.00 and Sony Corp (TYO:) was down 3.19% or 395.00 points to 11,975.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2100 to 1401 and 251 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.26% to 19.56 a new 1-month low.

Crude oil for July delivery was down 1.91% or 2.20 to $113.06 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.79% or 2.08 to hit $114.21 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.30% or 5.60 to trade at $1,854.30 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.15% to 129.91, while EUR/JPY rose 0.16% to 138.75.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 102.32.
