Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the rose 0.37%.

The best performers of the session on the were Softbank Group Corp. (TYO:), which rose 3.72% or 206.00 points to trade at 5,743.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (TYO:) added 2.73% or 13.00 points to end at 490.00 and Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. (TYO:) was up 2.42% or 61.00 points to 2,585.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Credit Saison Co., Ltd. (TYO:), which fell 7.07% or 125.00 points to trade at 1,643.00 at the close. Konami Corp. (TYO:) declined 3.30% or 220.00 points to end at 6,450.00 and TDK Corp (TYO:) was down 1.91% or 90.00 points to 4,630.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2117 to 1362 and 290 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 6.51% to 23.39.

Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.60% or 0.49 to $82.56 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.14% or 0.13 to hit $90.16 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.71% or 11.75 to trade at $1,644.05 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was up 0.10% to 149.40, while EUR/JPY fell 0.14% to 146.88.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 112.22.
