Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the lost 0.42%, while the index lost 0.48%.

The best performers of the session on the were Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:), which rose 3.28% or 34.35 points to trade at 1,082.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:) added 2.79% or 244.65 points to end at 9,010.10 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:) was up 2.34% or 14.75 points to 644.35 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Nestle India Ltd (NS:), which fell 2.84% or 592.65 points to trade at 20,282.40 at the close. Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:) declined 2.63% or 67.70 points to end at 2,505.40 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:) was down 2.60% or 49.20 points to 1,846.60.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which rose 3.29% to 1,082.55, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:) which was up 2.72% to settle at 9,004.45 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.98% to close at 1,947.90.

The worst performers were Nestle India Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.83% to 20,278.15 in late trade, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:) which lost 2.71% to settle at 2,504.35 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.55% to 1,659.05 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1124 to 687 and 57 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1894 fell and 1362 advanced, while 105 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.11% to 16.88 a new 1-month low.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.59% or 9.80 to $1,644.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.17% or 0.99 to hit $83.59 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.12% or 1.02 to trade at $90.19 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.11% to 82.84, while EUR/INR fell 0.03% to 81.68.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 111.96.
