Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the lost 0.37%, while the index lost 0.39%.

The best performers of the session on the were Tata Steel Ltd (NS:), which rose 1.71% or 18.25 points to trade at 1,086.75 at the close. Meanwhile, State Bank Of India (NS:) added 1.70% or 7.90 points to end at 471.30 and Titan Company Ltd (NS:) was up 1.34% or 28.05 points to 2,128.85 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:), which fell 3.21% or 22.00 points to trade at 663.30 at the close. ITC Ltd (NS:) declined 2.19% or 6.00 points to end at 267.90 and UPL Ltd (NS:) was down 1.77% or 13.20 points to 733.00.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:) which rose 1.70% to 1,086.75, State Bank Of India (BO:) which was up 1.66% to settle at 471.05 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.52% to close at 4,205.10.

The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:) which was down 3.31% to 663.20 in late trade, ITC Ltd (BO:) which lost 2.03% to settle at 268.25 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.74% to 2,724.30 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1054 to 764 and 59 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1712 fell and 1495 advanced, while 109 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.88% to 19.84 a new 1-month low.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.13% or 2.45 to $1,849.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.31% or 1.56 to hit $120.97 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.19% or 1.43 to trade at $122.00 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.31% to 77.69, while EUR/INR rose 0.26% to 83.29.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 102.49.
