Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the added 0.26%, while the index added 0.26%.

The best performers of the session on the were AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:), which rose 2.70% or 24.70 points to trade at 939.35 at the close. Meanwhile, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:) added 2.25% or 26.20 points to end at 1,190.85 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:) was up 2.12% or 69.15 points to 3,329.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:), which fell 3.63% or 36.95 points to trade at 980.80 at the close. Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. (NS:) declined 1.52% or 50.80 points to end at 3,287.45 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:) was down 1.47% or 3.25 points to 217.80.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:) which rose 2.71% to 939.45, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was up 2.31% to settle at 1,191.60 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:) which gained 2.06% to close at 2,167.30.

The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:) which was down 3.57% to 980.95 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.56% to settle at 217.75 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:) which was down 0.90% to 3,350.30 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 986 to 892 and 67 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1776 rose and 1594 declined, while 126 ended unchanged.

Shares in AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:) rose to all time highs; up 2.70% or 24.70 to 939.35. Shares in AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:) rose to all time highs; up 2.71% or 24.75 to 939.45. Shares in Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:) rose to all time highs; rising 2.06% or 43.80 to 2,167.30.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.83% to 13.40 a new 52-week low.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.18% or 3.25 to $1,794.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.87% or 0.63 to hit $72.64 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.71% or 0.55 to trade at $77.72 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.25% to 82.41, while EUR/INR rose 0.24% to 86.56.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 105.28.
