Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the gained 0.11%, while the index gained 0.03%.

The best performers of the session on the were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:), which rose 5.55% or 7.85 points to trade at 149.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:) added 4.12% or 13.60 points to end at 343.55 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:) was up 2.71% or 29.30 points to 1,112.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Titan Company Ltd (NS:), which fell 3.54% or 72.25 points to trade at 1,968.05 at the close. Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:) declined 3.35% or 94.45 points to end at 2,726.50 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:) was down 1.94% or 225.15 points to 11,370.00.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which rose 2.78% to 1,112.15, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:) which was up 1.49% to settle at 2,529.00 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.41% to close at 4,377.95.

The worst performers were Titan Company Ltd (BO:) which was down 3.54% to 1,968.10 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:) which lost 3.25% to settle at 2,728.90 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.94% to 11,370.00 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 975 to 839 and 55 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1726 rose and 1438 declined, while 134 ended unchanged.

Shares in Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.71% or 29.30 to 1,112.00. Shares in Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) rose to all time highs; rising 2.78% or 30.10 to 1,112.15.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.12% to 21.45.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.01% or 0.15 to $1,824.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.72% or 1.88 to hit $111.45 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.96% or 2.18 to trade at $113.16 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.52% to 78.84, while EUR/INR rose 0.57% to 83.46.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 103.73.
