Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the declined 1.05%, while the index fell 1.26%, and the index lost 1.09%.

The best performers of the session on the were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:), which rose 0.82% or 0.25 points to trade at 30.57 at the close. Meanwhile, Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (ETR:) added 0.24% or 0.28 points to end at 116.42 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:) was down 0.11% or 0.03 points to 26.25 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Zalando SE (ETR:), which fell 3.30% or 1.13 points to trade at 33.11 at the close. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:) declined 2.34% or 0.45 points to end at 18.64 and Continental AG O.N. (ETR:) was down 2.00% or 1.14 points to 55.98.

The top performers on the MDAX were Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (ETR:) which rose 0.86% to 76.05, Software AG (ETR:) which was up 0.67% to settle at 24.22 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (ETR:) which gained 0.60% to close at 8.35.

The worst performers were Rheinmetall AG (ETR:) which was down 3.85% to 186.05 in late trade, Fraport AG (ETR:) which lost 3.55% to settle at 38.05 and Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:) which was down 3.50% to 60.60 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:) which rose 2.96% to 13.20, Software AG (ETR:) which was up 0.67% to settle at 24.22 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:) which gained 0.02% to close at 47.69.

The worst performers were Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:) which was down 3.50% to 60.60 in late trade, Aixtron SE (ETR:) which lost 2.95% to settle at 26.97 and Siltronic AG (ETR:) which was down 2.43% to 68.15 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 499 to 204 and 48 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.08% to 20.57.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.18% or 3.25 to $1,829.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.99% or 0.78 to hit $79.18 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.22% or 1.02 to trade at $84.48 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.43% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.89.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.37% at 103.20.
