Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the rose 1.47% to hit a new 6-months high, while the index added 1.40%.

The best performers of the session on the were Renault SA (EPA:), which rose 3.07% or 1.08 points to trade at 36.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Safran SA (EPA:) added 3.03% or 3.60 points to end at 122.40 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:) was up 2.80% or 20.40 points to 748.80 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Engie SA (EPA:), which fell 3.03% or 0.40 points to trade at 12.95 at the close. Danone SA (EPA:) declined 1.83% or 0.93 points to end at 49.65 and Orange SA (EPA:) was down 0.06% or 0.01 points to 9.89.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were JC Decaux SA (EPA:) which rose 5.10% to 19.16, Nexans SA (EPA:) which was up 4.48% to settle at 86.30 and SEB SA (EPA:) which gained 4.24% to close at 89.80.

The worst performers were Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA:) which was down 4.27% to 25.79 in late trade, Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (EPA:) which lost 3.80% to settle at 288.30 and Engie SA (EPA:) which was down 3.03% to 12.95 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 315 to 212 and 107 ended unchanged.

Shares in Safran SA (EPA:) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.03% or 3.60 to 122.40. Shares in LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.80% or 20.40 to 748.80.

The , which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.47% or 27.05 to $1,867.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.95% or 0.70 to hit $74.37 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.65% or 0.51 to trade at $79.20 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 1.12% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.34% to 0.88.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.05% at 103.73.
