Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the added 0.48% to hit a new 6-months high, while the index climbed 0.48%.

The best performers of the session on the were L’Oreal SA (EPA:), which rose 2.53% or 9.55 points to trade at 387.00 at the close. Meanwhile, STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:) added 1.99% or 0.76 points to end at 38.73 and Renault SA (EPA:) was up 1.89% or 0.70 points to 38.02 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Engie SA (EPA:), which fell 5.47% or 0.72 points to trade at 12.47 at the close. Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:) declined 1.42% or 0.39 points to end at 27.08 and Publicis Groupe SA (EPA:) was down 1.07% or 0.68 points to 62.70.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Orpea SA (EPA:) which rose 3.87% to 7.79, Alten SA (EPA:) which was up 3.64% to settle at 136.60 and Vallourec (EPA:) which gained 3.37% to close at 12.90.

The worst performers were SES Imagotag (EPA:) which was down 7.02% to 119.20 in late trade, Engie SA (EPA:) which lost 5.47% to settle at 12.47 and JC Decaux SA (EPA:) which was down 3.70% to 20.30 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 278 to 267 and 87 ended unchanged.

Shares in L’Oreal SA (EPA:) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.53% or 9.55 to 387.00. Shares in Renault SA (EPA:) rose to 52-week highs; rising 1.89% or 0.70 to 38.02.

The , which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.62% or 11.85 to $1,909.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.17% or 0.14 to hit $79.97 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.94% or 0.79 to trade at $85.25 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.31% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP fell 0.86% to 0.88.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 102.22.
