Investing.com – Australia stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Sydney, the declined 1.23% to hit a new 3-months low.

The best performers of the session on the were Resolute Mining Ltd (ASX:), which rose 7.69% or 0.02 points to trade at 0.21 at the close. Meanwhile, Silver Lake Resources Ltd (ASX:) added 7.27% or 0.08 points to end at 1.18 and Regis Resources Ltd (ASX:) was up 6.85% or 0.10 points to 1.56 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Carsales.Com Ltd (ASX:), which fell 7.79% or 1.59 points to trade at 18.81 at the close. Polynovo Ltd (ASX:) declined 6.81% or 0.10 points to end at 1.30 and Cochlear Ltd (ASX:) was down 6.63% or 13.82 points to 194.54.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 799 to 534 and 359 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 10.30% to 20.88.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.68% or 11.35 to $1,679.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.89% or 0.72 to hit $81.95 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.95% or 0.83 to trade at $88.01 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.02% to 0.65, while AUD/JPY fell 0.03% to 93.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 111.88.
