Meanwhile, Idp Education Ltd (ASX:) added 7.20% or 1.79 points to end at 26.66 and Platinum Asset Management Ltd (ASX:) was up 6.42% or 0.28 points to 4.64 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Appen Ltd (ASX:), which fell 12.05% or 2.44 points to trade at 17.81 at the close. Nanosonics Ltd (ASX:) declined 8.10% or 0.49 points to end at 5.56 and Seek Ltd (ASX:) was down 7.80% or 2.20 points to 25.99.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 866 to 520 and 353 ended unchanged.

AUD/USD was up 0.13% to 0.7920, while AUD/JPY rose 0.44% to 83.61.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 90.058.
