Apple (NASDAQ:) has started laying off non-seasonal employees in its retail channel outside of Apple Stores, AppleInsider said Friday.

The publication said it received the information via email and has since verified it via other sources.

It is said that Apple retail channel employees who work at places such as Best Buy stores have received a 30-day notice concerning their rights regarding a layoff.

Seasonal employees, which help with rising demand through certain periods, have already seen their contracts expire, and AppleInsider reports that the layoffs have not come from that pool. However, it’s not clear what percentage of its workforce is affected, although it is notable enough that multiple sources have confirmed the news, they added.

In addition, they state that the second part of the email reveals Retail Contact Center employees will be notified later on Friday and on the weekend, although AppleInsider could not verify that information.
